It’s time to release your inner child! Oh, and it’s fine to bring actual kids with you, too, when you go snow tubing at Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center. For two hours, you can walk up Tubing Hill, get your tube, and slide down. No lines, no lifts: Just good old-fashioned family fun. The hill is safe for all ages. There’s a warming hut at the top of the hill, and you’re welcome to bring snacks and beverages. On weekends and holidays, there’s a fire pit complete with s’mores and hot chocolate. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends and holidays. Come see why they say Tubing Hill has some of the best family-friendly sliding in the East. Side benefit: The kids will sleep all the way home.

Slide down Loon Mountain to your heart’s content

Loon Mountain is rated one of the most accessible mountain resorts in the East by readers of Ski Magazine. But outdoor winter fun does not begin and end with skiing or snowboarding. Located just two hours north of Boston in the scenic heart of the White Mountains, you can enjoy all the thrills of sliding down a mountain on snow tubes - and you don’t need lessons to get in on the action. Kids must be 48” tall and 50lbs to ride the chairlift. With Mom and dad present at the tot tubing area, smaller kids can tube at the base of Little Sister. Snow tubing is offered in one-hour segments and reservations are recommended.
